How to Translate DOCX Files

Our platform now supports the direct translation of Microsoft Word (.docx) files alongside InDesign (.idml) files. Here's how to get started:

Steps:

  1. Log In: Access your account on our platform.
  2. Upload Document:
    • Navigate to the project creation or file upload section.
    • Click the "Upload" button.
    • Select your .docx file from your computer.
  3. Select Languages:
    • Choose the source language of your DOCX file (often auto-detected).
    • Select the target language(s) you want to translate the document into.
  4. Configure Options (Optional):
    • Review any available translation settings or options (e.g., glossary usage, specific instructions).
  5. Start Translation:
    • Confirm your selections and initiate the translation process.
  6. Review and Download:
    • Once the translation is complete, you'll be notified.
    • Review the translated .docx file directly on the platform or download it for offline review.
    • The translated file aims to preserve the original formatting and layout.

Important Notes:

  • File Size Limits: Be aware of any potential file size limitations for uploads.
  • Complex Formatting: While we strive to maintain formatting, extremely complex Word documents might require minor adjustments post-translation.
  • Supported Versions: We support standard .docx formats. Older .doc formats may need to be saved as .docx first.

That's it! Translating Word documents is designed to be as simple and efficient as translating IDML files.
