Supported File Types for Translation

Our platform is optimized for translating professional design and document files. We currently offer direct support for the following formats:

1. Adobe InDesign (IDML)

  • Extension: .idml (InDesign Markup Language)
  • Description: IDML is Adobe InDesign's standard interchange format. It's the ideal way to prepare InDesign documents for translation, preserving layout, styles, and text formatting.
  • Best For: Brochures, flyers, magazines, books, and other documents created with Adobe InDesign.
  • How to Export: See our guide: How to Export IDML Files from InDesign

2. Microsoft Word (DOCX)

  • Extension: .docx (Office Open XML Document)
  • Description: The standard format for documents created in recent versions of Microsoft Word.
  • Best For: Reports, manuals, articles, letters, and other text-based documents created in Microsoft Word.
  • Note: We support the .docx format. Older .doc files should be saved as .docx before uploading.

File Preparation

For best results, please ensure your files are properly prepared before uploading:

  • InDesign: Follow our InDesign preparation guidelines.
  • Word: Ensure the document is saved correctly as .docx and that any tracked changes are accepted or rejected.

We are continuously evaluating support for additional file formats based on user feedback. If you have requirements for other types, please let us know!
